Escarpment comes out on top
The Wine Spectator’s recent review of New Zealand wines has placed Escarpment firmly at the top of the list. MaryAnn Worobiec reviewed over 350 wines for her report, with Sauvignon Blancs and Pinot Noirs accounting for those receiving the best scores. Escarpment’s 2015 Kupe Pinot Noir received 96 pts, one of only two to receive this score, while their 2015 Kiwa Pinot Noir was awarded 94 pts. A fantastic achievement, well done Larry and Huw!
2015 Kupe Pinot Noir – 96 pts
This powerful wine has plum and blood orange flavours at the core that offer plenty of torque, slowly revealing details of cedar, tobacco, cumin seed, rosemary and black tea.
2015 Kiwa Pinot Noir – 94 pts
Dusty, with a dense core of mineral-laced dark fruit flavours, with plenty of anise and nutmeg details.
